COVID UPDATE: January 2021

Although it has not been easy, we have made it to the New Year! As our staff continue to work tirelessly to keep Apple Dental safe and healthy for all of our patients, we thank you for your patience and understanding. We will continue to uphold the measures as stated in the letter below. Since this letter was sent out, we received and have put to use multiple new air purifiers and sanitation units, which are described below. We will continue to post updates on this page as necessary. Happy New Year!

Fume Boss aka “Wall-e”

This unit, which we like to call “Wall-e”, is used during high aerosol generating procedures. It pulls particles out of the air and allows us to practice safely by limiting the amount of contagions in the air.

COVID UPDATE: June 2020 Letter to Patients

Dear Valued Patient,

We hope that this letter finds you safe and in good health. All of us at Apple Dental appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented times. While the office was closed, our staff worked diligently to find a safe way to reopen. Now that we’ve resumed work, we want to share with you the details of our efforts.  As always, your health and safety are our top priority.

Apple Dental officially reopened June 1, 2020. Along with the standard infection control procedures, Dr. O’Carroll and the staff have implemented various new precautions due to COVID-19.  Our office follows and exceeds infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the ISDS and IDPH. We have been vigilantly watching for new updates and adjusting our procedures as needed. Furthermore, Apple Dental has gone above and beyond by investing in new air purifiers and UV-C sterilization units. The air purifier units are specifically designed for dental practices and have 5 filters including a UV light and negative ion chamber. These purifiers will work to contain and destroy harmful pollutants, viruses and other particles in conjunction with the UV-C sterilization unit.  The portable UV-C light is made up of 8 high-output lamps that eliminate 99.9% of pathogens and will be utilized to sterilize the rooms between patients as well as at the end of the day. We are confident that these new units will allow for our practice to be of the utmost safety for our patients and staff.

Your next office visit may look a little different than it has in the past. We have made changes in order to maintain the safety of all of our patients and staff. Before you come in for your appointment, you will be contacted to answer some pre-screening questions. You will be asked these SAME questions when you come in for your appointment. Your appointment visit will be as follows:

  • You will be asked to contact the office when you arrive and to please wait in your car until you are told to enter.

  • You will be required to wear a mask when you enter the office and up until you are seated in the chair.

  • We will take your temperature when you enter the office.

  • We will ask you to use the hand sanitizer provided and instruct you on proper sanitizing technique.

  • We will have you fill out the pre-screen questionnaire and verify your health history.

In order to limit the spread of possible contagions in the office, we are keeping our waiting room as minimally occupied as possible. That being said, we ask that you come to the appointment alone if you are able or have visitors wait outside. Anyone who enters the office will have their temperature taken and will fill out the pre-screen questionnaire as well.

If you have any questions regarding the information provided in this letter or any other concerns, please do not hesitate to call our office at 847-296-8111. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Sincerely,

James L. O’Carroll DDS
